Lifeline Canberra’s Bookfairs raise a major portion of the funding needed to keep our local crisis support service running. Our Bookfairs are the largest gathering of book-lovers in Canberra – you will see a return very soon.

We have a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, including rare books and collectables, children’s books, textbooks and foreign language books. You’ll also find magazines and pamphlets, sheet music, comics, maps and atlases, talking books, records and CDs, DVDs, games and jigsaws.

Entry to the Lifeline Canberra Bookfairs is by gold coin donation.

It’s happening! The Lifeline Canberra Southside Bookfair is back!

We are registered as a COVID Safe event. For your safety, the event will be held on strict accordance with ACT Health regulations.

Due to restrictions associated with COVID there will be limited numbers allowed at Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium – please be patient as we know many people in the community are eagerly awaiting the return of our Bookfair.

We are inviting all Canberrans to visit the Southside Bookfair on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday (10, 11, 12, 13 December 2020).

The Bookfair is open

Thursday 10 December, 9am to 4pm

Friday, 11 December, 9am to 6pm (9am – 11am seniors card upon entry);

Saturday, 12 December 9am to 4pm

Sunday, 13 December, 9am to 4pm.

Our Southside Bookfair is held at Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium, 7 Pitman Street, Greenway ACT.

Entry is by gold coin donation. All proceeds go directly to our local 13 11 14 crisis support and suicide prevention service, changing lives for the better.

We strongly encourage you to wear a mask, please scan in using the supplies QR code or use the sign in sheet, use the hand sanitiser provided on entry and during your time at the Bookfair. Observe good hygiene and practice social distancing while browsing, queuing and moving around.

We are accepting all forms of payments; cash and electronic.

Under COVID restrictions and our approved COVID plan we are UNABLE to accept book donations at our Southside Bookfair, please take your donations to our warehouse or to Book Lovers Lane MORE INFO HERE alternatively you can call our office on 02 6171 6300 to organise a collection for large quantities.

Northside Bookfairs

Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC)
Cnr Flemington Road & Northbourne Ave, Mitchell

PARKING

Free Parking is available onsite and also at Exhibition Park’s Wells Station Road car park. See parking options on the attached EPIC Site plan.

Mobility access: Accessible parking options are available in front of both entry and exit. Parcel pickup service is also available outside the exit.

TRANSPORT

Light Rail services run to and from EPIC every 15 minutes on Saturdays & Sundays, with more regular services on weekdays. Customers can use the recently upgraded footpath on the southern side of Flemington Rd (opposite side on the road to EPIC) to walk up to the pedestrian lights to cross over for access to Gate 2 (the main gate with the bus & taxi drop off zone). MyWay cards should be tapped on and off at the platforms, or paper tickets can be purchased using cash or payWave at every stop. If passengers are catching the bus, they can use their bus ticket on the Light Rail within the 90 minute transfer period (and same goes for Light Rail paper tickets being used on buses).

SHOPPING & PAYMENT OPTIONS

After selecting items to purchase, please proceed to the tally tables near the exit. The total cost of your purchase will be calculated here, before you move to the cash registers to pay for you purchase. Payment can be made by cash, credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or EFTPOS. If you need help to move heavy books, please approach one of our friendly volunteers.

ON THE DAY

Carry-bags are available for purchase for $3 each. We also encourage you to bring your own carry-bags.

Refreshments are available from the EPIC cafe in the Budawang Pavilion from 9am on Friday and Saturday and 10am on Sunday.

EPIC Café will also be opening its doors for patrons waiting outside from 7am on Friday, and 8am on Saturday – serving tea, coffee and breakfast options.

BULK PURCHASES

For bulk purchases, please bring your own boxes, bags and trolleys to our bookfairs, we cannot supply them .
