Celebrating 50 years

Answering the call for 50 years
Lifeline – Changing lives for the better.

In our 50 years of service our mission was and is to proactively build resilience within our community and provide crisis support to individuals.

We do this through an increased focus on early intervention to build resilience. We work with the community but specifically with those who are most at risk, in relation to mental health. We seek to build life skills and educate people to help themselves. We support those in crisis and provide care and support to their family and friends.

We have never been met with a larger demand than now. Lifeline Canberra remain the largest crisis support centre in Australia, as we endeavour to build a suicide safe Australia.

Share your story

As we come into our 50 years of service we want to hear from you. Sharing insight and lived experiences of suicide or living with a mental illness, you’re own or a loved ones can be an incredibly rewarding and healing experience. It can also provide hope and inspiration to others who are, or have been in a similar situation. Sharing your lived experience, when done appropriately and with purpose, is a powerful tool for changing attitudes and opinions, furthering education about suicide prevention, raising awareness and leaving lasting impressions that have the potential to save lives.

The most important thing to consider before choosing to share your story to help Lifeline Canberra prevent suicide is whether you’re ready.

Lifeline Canberra believes handing over to you to tell your story for our 50 years not only showcases the extremely important work we do but gives the awareness and reduce stigma of suicide and mental health.

We are hoping to feature these stories through-out our media platforms and create something to treasure for the next 50 years of our existence.

Thank you for taking the time to consider how you can help by sharing your lived experience.

If you believe you are ready to share your story with Lifeline Canberra, please fill in the below online Story Sharing form.
